History as a Dramatic Story - Told by a Master Storyteller
Announcing Prof. Eugene Lieber's World Events Over Time Collection on DVDs &
CDs
Randolph, N.J. - December 1, 2008 (INB) -- A collection of history lectures,
World Views Over Time Collection, covers
a vast span of American and world history through the vision
of a single historian and created over a period of 38 years. This
collection of 98 lectures totals 110 hours in 12 series.
It is now available in video DVD and audio CD formats.
The lecture series titles are: American Presidents, American Wars, Topics
in American History, Islam and the Arab Empire, Minorities in America,
Making of Modern Europe, Countries of Europe, Ancient and Medieval Worlds,
Regions of the U.S.,
Regions of the World, Revolutions, and Politics and Society
in 20th Century America.
This World Events Over Time Collection addresses our need to relate to the
ever shifting currents of our world. Much of
the masses of information which bombard us is often too
complex, contradictory, and at may be at odds with the world
view that we have come to see. Adding to this is the
challenge to know and understand the past as it informs and profoundly
affects what is happening now and in the future.
The author, Eugene Lieber, examines past and present forces
which shape human society with implications for the future.
He questions stereotypes, myths, and commonly held views of motivations
behind events, giving carefully balanced
arguments to support his views. Collectively, his lectures provide a
breathtaking view of American and world history as
a vast family tree, while respecting and illuminating the uniqueness of each
tree branch. As we make our way through
this master road map, there emerges a growing degree of
clarity about the world we know. All the while, there is an inner dialog,
with us questioning, arguing, and even at times disagreeing as we proceed.
All this is hugely engaging and
also exciting. There is a sense of personal satisfaction
that comes from revisiting in new ways some simplistic
notions, and the illumination of all those shadowy and grey
areas that have been lurking in the background of our
awareness.
"I must place human beings at the center of the story of
history, what they have been capable of, for better or worse,
in their relationship to nature and each other ... Facts such
as names and dates may seem dry and boring. The point is to
bring them alive in the interpreting of them. I believe
history is inherently a dramatic story, and I hope to
convey that." -- Prof. Eugene Lieber
Eugene Lieber's World Events Over Time Collection is a highly stimulating
and rewarding resource for people of all
backgrounds who seek a more comprehensive understanding of
our world and their place in it.
