Former Stanford University Topless Candidate Promotes Nude
Art Film on the Internet
LOS ANGELES, CA - August 18, 2003 (INB) -- In 1968, Vicky Drake
ran as the "topless candidate" for student body president of
Stanford University. A topless dancer, she gained national
notoriety for her campaign poster that featured a photo of
herself standing nude on Mr. and Mrs. Stanford's tomb
(http://www.abm-enterprises.net/whistlestop.html). Vicky, who
is now married to American classical composer John Mitchell, is
now promoting a new, somewhat controversial, independent short
film, "The Beauty of Touch," directed by Toronto filmmaker
Jonathan Robbins and produced by Colin M. Davis.
The film's uninhibited choreography was an interpretation of
the music provided by John Mitchell's piano trio. Nude dancers
beautifully perform the modern dance movements. "The Beauty of
Touch," which has been accepted in various film festivals and
is accessible through various media, is also available on
Mitchell's website, at http://www.abm-enterprises.net/touch.html.
Although this film may be seen as controversial, it is a work of
beauty," said Ms. Drake. "It is art, not pornography, and can be
viewed in any school or library. I have always believed that the
body is beautiful," Drake added. "This film is a tribute to the
music and the human body."
